Switched On Group is the industry best for service and delivery in the commercial & residential building and maintenance sector.
The vision for this project was to open up enclosed office spaces to create more collaborative spaces. Kā te Rama Switched On Group wanted to remove physical barriers and encourage team interaction, with a focus on fostering a supportive and social workplace culture.
In line with this vision, our team proposed the removal of walls to establish an open floor plan, giving the space a much-needed sense of flow. We also designed and built a new communal kitchen, providing kaimahi-staff with a comfortable space to take breaks, socialise, and recharge during the day.
Working alongside Chapple Architecture and Charles Consulting, Switched On Building Solutions played a key role in bringing the client’s vision to life. Our management team oversaw all on-site work, while the project manager, Hercules Snyman, and supervisor, Eugene Robinson, coordinated the efforts of our local sub-contractors, including specialists in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, flooring, painting, and joinery.
The scope of work involved:
These changes not only opened up the space, but also enhanced its functionality and comfort for staff.
The project was completed in two phases, which presented a unique challenge: Phase 2 needed to be carried out while staff were working in the building. This required careful coordination to ensure minimal disruption. While there were some noise and space restrictions due to health and safety requirements, the staff were accommodating, and our team worked efficiently to manage these constraints.
The highlight of the project was the transformation of the office into an open environment, complete with additional meeting rooms and a bright, inviting communal kitchen. Kaimahi are now able to enjoy a workspace that fosters both collaboration and relaxation, with a stunning view of the neighboring tree line from the kitchen.
We were thrilled with the outcome, especially the new kitchen area, which has quickly become a favorite spot for kaimahi to gather. The project ran smoothly and was completed as planned, with no unexpected surprises along the way.
This project stands as a great example of how thoughtful design and effective teamwork can transform a workspace. By aligning with the client’s vision and overcoming the challenges of working in an occupied space, we delivered an office that encourages interaction, productivity, and well-being.
At Switched On Building Solutions, we continue to take pride in creating spaces that inspire and enhance the everyday work experience.
