Our Mission
To turn this outdated house into a modern, healthy home that provides comfort and safety for whānau for generations. This is one of over 120 retrofits we’ve worked on for Kāinga Ora, with 15 more currently underway in Wellington, Palmerston North, Whanganui, and New Plymouth.
Challenges and Solutions
Many homes need extensive work, such as recladding and reroofing, often involving hazardous materials like asbestos. We handle these challenges comprehensively and cost-effectively, ensuring minimal disruption so families can move in quickly.
Meeting Healthy Homes Standards
Our retrofits ensure compliance with New Zealand's Healthy Homes Standards, including:
- Installing insulation and double glazing
- Upgrading kitchens, laundries, and bathrooms
- Addressing trip hazards and improving accessibility
Project Management and Collaboration
Our Wellington-based team manages projects across various regions, working closely with Kāinga Ora. We hold weekly catch-ups and monthly contractor meetings to ensure seamless coordination. Our team includes five leaders and a mix of trade assistants handling demolition and building tasks, with specialised services subcontracted to trusted local trades.
Helping our Hapori
We prioritise using local trades from Wellington, Lower Hutt, Stokes Valley, Porirua, Khandallah, and Karori, supporting the local economy and strengthening community ties. Our partnership with Ngāti Toa Rangatira and use of iwi-networked businesses reflect our commitment to supplier diversity.
